Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) & Carbon Assessments
At eCubed, we provide robust Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and carbon assessments to support sustainable decision-making across the built environment. Our expertise spans a range of applications, ensuring that projects not only meet sustainability goals but also align with key certification frameworks and reporting requirements.
Why our customers are engaged with LCA and carbon
- Credible results
- Demonstrating leadership in sustainability
- Meet requirements of the 2023 New Zealand Construction Industry Council guidelines for Carbon
- Anticipate MBIE upcoming changes to building code Whole-of-Life Embodied Carbon Emissions Reduction Framework
We offer:
· LCA for Green Star Design & As Built – Helping projects achieve Green Star certification by assessing embodied carbon and material impacts.
· Carbon Assessments for Green Star & Beyond – Supporting projects in measuring and reducing carbon emissions, whether for certification or internal sustainability goals.
· Carbon Assessments for ESG & Scope 3 Reporting – Assisting organisations in understanding and disclosing Scope 3 emissions as part of voluntary ESG reporting.
· Ministry of Education Carbon Assessments – Providing carbon assessments tailored to Ministry of Education requirements, ensuring alignment with sector-specific sustainability targets.
All our LCAs adhere to internationally recognised standards such as EN 15978 and EN 15804, ensuring consistency, reliability, and industry best practice. To maintain the highest level of credibility, our LCAs undergo independent third-party peer review, giving our clients confidence in the accuracy and robustness of their results.
When to Use Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is most effective when integrated early in the design process, allowing for informed decisions that reduce environmental impact from the outset. By embedding LCA into the project lifecycle, we help design teams identify opportunities to improve material choices, optimise carbon performance, and align with sustainability targets before key decisions are locked in.
While early-stage LCAs guide design improvements, a comprehensive assessment is typically conducted at the end of design or after construction, providing a full picture of the
building’s environmental impact. This final LCA is essential for Green Star certification, ESG reporting, or simply understanding the building’s footprint in a meaningful way.
By using LCA strategically throughout a project, we ensure sustainability is more than just a checkbox—it becomes a driving force behind better building outcomes.
